I also contributed a long introduction to Magic Stones, a book of stunning images by the Czech photographer Jan Pohribny. Jan is a stone obsessive and has travelled the length of Europe, from Finland to Malta, photographing everything from prehistoric megalithic structures in Brittany to 18th century stone mazes in Finland. Quite a range and quite a job to pull them all together into a coherent story. Judge for ourselves whether I succeeded or not. Link
On a slightly more academic (but still ‘popular’) note, English Heritage has just published ‘The Sands of Time’ a report that I wrote examining the outreach work funded by the Aggregates Levy Sustainability Fund (now ‘Sustainable Aggregates’) over the last six years. This report, containing a series of case studies and what I am hoping will be a useful guide to outreach, can be downloaded as a PDF from the English Heritage ALSF website. Link
For pure relaxation I have just written a children’s book – not about archaeology at all. So all I need now is a friendly publisher……. |
