Live Appearances 2010

A Happy (very belated) New Year to all of you and here is the somewhat skeletal diary for 2010. No doubt new events will be added as the year goes on and I am hoping to do some sort of a ‘tour’ involving my ex- Gateshead Council library bus during the Festival of British Archaeology (17th July – 1st August). The other main difference between 2010 and previous years is that I am not doing many hotel heritage weekends. This is partly due to Hilton having stopped doing special events (so no more Hadrian’s Wall trips) but also because I want to have more weekends free to indulge some of my other interests. Yes, it is possible for a passionate archaeologist to be interested in more than just archaeology. In my case it is historic (well it had to be) motor sport so expect to see me at Prescott and Shelsey Walsh hill-climbs, the Goodwood Revival in September and as many other events as I can fit in.

Hope to meet up with some of you this year!

If you would like me to come and give a lecture to your society or organisation (plenty of dates available in the autumn) then please email me to discuss time, location and topic. Favourite topics at the moment are:

  • Meeting the Ancestors
  • TV archaeology (Archaeology and the media)
  • Blood of the Vikings
  • Stonehenge - a range of approaches here:
Stonehenge – the story so far (very general but right up to date)
Stonehenge – a history in photographs (a social history – see Books)
Souvenirs of Stonehenge – the good the bad and the ugly
(what it says on the tin)
  • Magic Stones – a photographic tour of the megaliths of Europe (see books)
  • Wessex from the air – 80 years on (aerial photography of some iconic sites)
  • Mapping the Town (based on my long running radio 4 series)

I will be adding some additional talk subjects shortly.
