The Phenomenal Fortnite World Cup

The recent Fortnite World Cup was a huge blast amongst gamers, spectators, and fans. The three major events and other mini-competitions gave a grand total of 30 million dollars to its respective winners.

Fortnite is an online, multiplayer, strategy-based game which was first released in 2017.

It initially started with just two modes of the game and has recently expanded with another game mode due to popular demands. It was developed by Epic Games and the latest game mode is currently available for Windows, iOS, and Android.

The World Cup Champion

The true Cinderella story of the recent Fortnite World Cup revolves around Kyle “Bugha” Giersdorf. At an early age of 16 years old, he became a millionaire through this game. He was a black horse that nobody knew beforehand, yet he continually snatched titles from strong candidates who were initially more popular than him.
Bugha showcased an aggressive yet careful gameplay. He showed signs of being intimidated over his more popular enemies and eventually garnered a huge amount of kills. In the end, his final standing was almost two times than that of the second place, which is an extremely rare feat. In a tournament that contains talents from different places, getting almost double the second rank’s score was then unheard of. His dominance was very prominent and this placed him at the top of the game.

Gender Scrutiny

During the Fortnite World Cup, it was observed that no woman came home with any awards or achievement. It is no longer a Fortnite specific issue but scrutiny have been thrown regarding this all-male showdown.
However the World Cup events are no longer a matter of who should and should not join, right from the get-go, it was a test of skill and strategy that whoever pulls off the best play claims the crown. Overall the Fortnite World Cup was a total success despite some minor issues.
